[I believe that Aristotle could have been more fully embracing of first events as a foundational type of goal too feverishly based upon his relationship towards Socrates and so the amount of ground lost might not have actually been as profound as it first seemed.  It merits further investigation if finding which one is a greater philosopher is a goal of yours.]
