The Iliad vs Popeye the Sailor

I have read what many consider one of the greatest epic poetry books.  It pales in comparison to Popeye the Sailor because after watching Popeye the Sailor, at least you were left with the wisdom 'You should eat spinach to get strong' which can imply that one should eat well in order to be magnificently stronger against your foe which would otherwise be much bigger.
