 Depending on which hand is the fighters dominant hand, that hand faces the opponent and both fighters carry a needle with holder that is used only to help grip the needle kind of like Marvel Comics Wolverine would hold except it would only be a one clawed Wolverine.  The needle is a self-defense weapon that can have nearly anything on the tip of the needle depending on the intent of the attack/defender.  Is your roommate a raging alcoholic?  Then it would contain a powerful sedative in order to subdue your attacker in the event of a physical confrontation.  Take the moon as it as full, split it in half and have both sides of waning moon facing outwards.  For example, the right foot would only move like this

C.  The contestants right foot is only allowed to move in the direction starting at how the letter C is drawn except your foot is only allowed to move in the direction from bottom of the C to top and, also, only for deflection or counter-attacking.  The left foot uses only the same rules as the right foot except facing the other side.

Only after employing the right or left foot counter-attack are you allowed to then strike with the opposite foot with the maximum amount of stable yet strong force.  It takes a lot of practice to master this style usually because, as the saying goes, practice makes perfect.
