If you become a pirate then you are ready for a life that is finally free from the country you came from.  You can have all the gold you could ever wish for.  But pirates need to store their treasures somewhere.  Have you ever heard of "pirate's booty" though?  They would store their ill-gotten gain right where the x marks the spot on their treasure maps.

But when is the last time you've heard of a pirates treasure being discovered?
